OpenStax Overview

OpenStax is the world’s largest publisher of open education resources (OER) and a provider of integrated learning technologies and education research for high school and college. We are a global nonprofit at Rice University.

It has two active products:

• OpenStax Assignable: Online homework system with various interactive activities and assessments.
• OpenStax Digital Textbooks: 85+ high-quality peer reviewed textbooks from middle school to postsecondary levels.

In the past it had OpenStax Tutor, a courseware that had many learning science informed features (e.g., spaced practice, retrieval practice, self-directed practice). It was sunset in 2024. On SafeInsights, we share OpenStax Tutor data from
